Touch3 Software Update

GreatCall is excited to announce an important software update available for your Touch3 smartphone. This update adds new features as well as improves the overall performance of your phone.

•    Dial ‘0’ or ‘411’ to call GreatCall Personal Operator (charges may apply)
•    Dial ‘611’ to call GreatCall Customer Service

•    Default screen timeout reduced to one minute to improve battery performance

Getting the Software Update

Automatic Update

Within the next few days you will receive a notification directly on your phone to download or install the software update.

When prompted to download the software update, TAP the “Download” button.
When prompted to install the software update, TAP the “Install” button.

NOTE: Your phone will restart to complete the installation.

Manual Update

If for some reason you did not receive the automatic notification as described above, you can manually download and install the update when most convenient to you.

  1. While on the Home Tab on your Touch3, TAP the “All Apps” button.
  2. Scroll down the list until you see “Settings”. TAP “Settings”.
  3. TAP the More button ( ).
  4. Scroll down the list until you see “About device”. TAP “About device”.
  5. TAP “Software update”.
  6. TAP “Update”. The software will begin to download.
  7. Once downloaded, you will be prompted to install the update. TAP “Install”.

NOTE: Your phone will restart to complete the installation.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

IMPORTANT: To download this software update your Touch3 needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network. Your Touch3 is connected to a Wi-Fi network when you see this icon ( ) at the top of your phone’s screen.

Refer to the Touch3 User Guide for more information on how to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

What is a Wi-Fi Network?

A Wi-Fi network is a private wireless network that gives you an alternative way to access the Internet from GreatCall's cellular network. Wi-Fi may be set up in your own home, but it is commonly available at public places such as libraries, coffee shops and restaurants (also known as "wireless hot spots"). By using a Wi-Fi network, you will be able to download this software update as well as reduce your data usage on your GreatCall data plan.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network

Ensure you are within range of the desired Wi-Fi network.

  1. While on the Home Tab on your Touch3, TAP the Menu Button ( ).
  2. TAP "Options".
  3. TAP "Wi-Fi". A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear.
  4. TAP the Wi-Fi network name you wish to use.
  5. Enter the password for the Wi-Fi network you selected, and TAP the "Connect" button.

You should see "Connected" below your selected Wi-Fi network as well as a Wi-Fi icon ( ) in the Status Bar indicating that you have successfully connected to the network.

Printable Instructions

If you would like a printable version of these instructions navigate to http://www.greatcall.com/update on any laptop or desktop computer connected to a printer. From your computer browser you will be able to print these instructions as well as get additional information on how to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
